Yearling Buck 11/29/09

This is the entry wound. A classic behind the ear kill shot on a yearling buck taken in woods near Canandaigua, in upstate New York. The distance was almost exactly 400 feet and the projectile was a 1 ounce lead slug fired from a Remington 870 12 guage that Shawn traded a canoe for at the end of last season. The gun, Shawn says, is really sweet because it's light, the barrel is a very short 18 inches, yet the accuracy is that of a longer barreled shotgun.
